Star Digital Report: Tue Mar 22, 2022: wo 11-year-old girls from the Hindu community were abducted allegedly by
two local youths in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat last night. The girls were abducted on the way home from a temple in a village under Chandrapur union around 8pm yesterday, said ATM Golam Rasul, officer-in-charge (OC)
of Kaliganj Police Station. Police continued raids in different places to rescue the abducted  girls and arrest the abductors, the OC told our Lalmonirhat correspondent.
The father of one of the abductees filed a case with Kaliganj Police Station in this regard today, said the police official. Quoting the case statement, the OC said a group of 6-7 people, including Rokon Islam (20) and Raisul Islam (22) of the same village — with two battery-run easy-bikes — took position on a road beside a temple last night. They abducted two girls while they were returning home from the temple, nearly 300 meters away from their home, said the OC.
Talking to this correspondent, the father said a police team immediately rushed to the spot after
he informed them last night. But the law enforcers left the spot without taking any action or rescuing the girls. Some people, on behalf of the kidnappers, are pressuring him to settle the matter internally, added the father.They are willing to return the girls if the case is removed , he added.
