I made a statement; please circulate it on our web page. ……
We are profoundly alarmed by the arbitrary arrest of Shri Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari of ISKCON on baseless charges of subversive activities. We demand that the government prioritize his immediate and unconditional release without hesitation. It has been reported that he was unjustly detained today at Dhaka Airport by individuals claiming to be from the Detective Branch (DB), and he has since been taken to the DB headquarters on Mintu Road in Dhaka in a microbus with the registration number Dhaka Metro Cha-521161. This incident comes on the heels of a sedition case filed against Das and 18 others following an ISKCON rally in Chittagong on October 25, which sought to assert the rights of minorities. The rally has been unjustly criticized for allegedly displaying a saffron flag above the Bangladeshi national flag—a misrepresentation that authorities claim undermines national sovereignty. This has ignited protests from the Hindu community, who rightly view these arrests as a severe violation of religious freedoms. In response to these alarming developments, we will organize a robust and constructive protest rally in Dhaka and all district headquarters to demonstrate our unity and demand his immediate release. We are committed to raising awareness and fostering dialogue on the urgent need to protect minority rights. We call upon the international community, including the UN, to take immediate action on this critical issue and stand up for the rights of minorities in Bangladesh.
